Overview
What is Optysys?
Optysys is an AI-enabled optical inspection system designed for manufacturing quality control. It combines a high-resolution 4K camera with a precision XY gantry stage, intelligent desktop software, and a cloud-based web dashboard to deliver repeatable, documentable inspection of printed circuit boards (PCBs), assemblies, and finished products.
Optysys consists of two applications:
- Optysys Desktop — A cross-platform desktop application for live camera control, image capture, annotation, and AI inference
- Optysys Dashboard — A web application for team-based project management, image review, annotation collaboration, and AI model administration
Both applications share the same cloud backend, so images captured on the desktop are immediately available in the dashboard, and AI models configured in the dashboard are automatically downloaded by the desktop application.
Who is it for?
Optysys is built for manufacturing QC teams who need:
- Repeatable inspections — Consistent positioning and magnification for comparing samples over time
- Documentation — Annotated images and metadata for audits, traceability, and customer reports
- Project organization — Team/space/project hierarchy with role-based access and web dashboard visibility
- AI-assisted detection — Real-time ONNX-based inference on the live camera feed with customizable models
- Flexibility — Cross-platform desktop software that runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux
Whether you inspect PCBs, mechanical assemblies, textiles, or finished goods, Optysys provides the hardware and software foundation for structured optical inspection workflows.
What does it do?
Optysys performs optical inspection of:
- PCBs — Solder joints, component placement, traces, and defects
- Assemblies — Mechanical parts, connectors, labels, and alignment
- Products — Surface finish, dimensions, packaging, and cosmetic defects
The system guides you through:
- Positioning — Move the XY gantry to inspect specific areas
- Zooming — Use the camera's 30x optical zoom for detail or overview
- AI detection — Run real-time inference on the live feed to flag anomalies
- Capture — Take high-resolution images at each inspection point
- Annotation — Mark defects, add notes, and define regions of interest
- Sync — Upload to the Optysys Cloud for team access and traceability
- Review — Browse and collaborate on results in the Optysys Dashboard
Optysys Desktop
The Optysys Desktop application is where hands-on inspection happens. It provides:
| Capability | Description |
|---|---|
| Live video feed | OpenCV-based live preview for framing and focus |
| Camera control | VISCA protocol control of zoom, iris, aperture, and image settings |
| XY positioning | GRBL-controlled gantry for precise, repeatable stage movement |
| AI inspection | ONNX-based inference with real-time detection overlays on the live feed |
| Image capture | High-resolution image capture with automatic metadata recording |
| Annotation | Draw rectangles, ellipses, polygons, and arrows directly on captured images |
| Cloud sync | Upload images and annotations to your project in the Optysys Cloud |
| Offline mode | Capture images locally when network access is unavailable |
For details, see Desktop Application.
Optysys Dashboard
The Optysys Dashboard is a web application for managing inspection data, collaborating with your team, and configuring AI models. It provides:
| Capability | Description |
|---|---|
| Project management | Organize work into teams, spaces, and projects with role-based access |
| Image gallery | Browse, search, and filter captured images with thumbnails and metadata |
| Annotation review | View annotations with labels, add comments, and track changes by user |
| AI model management | Upload ONNX models, configure labels, and assign models to projects |
| Team administration | Invite members, manage roles, configure auto-join rules |
| Reference images | Mark images as reference for comparison during inspection |
| Trash and recovery | Soft-delete images with 30-day recovery window |
For details, see Web Dashboard.
